Today we wandered around New York. It was a beautiful day so we walked the few blocks over to Central Park from Mark's flat. We walked through the park and enjoyed the sunshine - saw the Met Museum, the Dakota building (where Yoko Ono lives), Strawberry Fields and where John Lennon was shot. We then took the subway downtown to the Staten Island ferry terminal and did the touristy round trip on the free ferry to Staten Island and back - giving us a great view of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan. We ate what looked like tasty hotdogs and pretzels on the ferry, but were really gross. Next we walked up to the Financial District and saw the NY Stock Exchange and Wall Street. We went to take a look at Ground Zero as well and what they are building there. It was such a huge open space, it was hard to picture such large buildings there. It's also amazing that the other buildings around are still standing perfectly fine.
We continued on walked uptown through SOHO and NOHO then finally had to get on a subway back to Mark's as my feet were killing me and Ty's back was hurting him. Later we went out for dinner with Mark and his girlfriend to a Mexican restaurant on 86th and 3rd Ave. And the highlight of the evening was stopping at Coldstone for icecream after. Tina was right, it really is quite amazing! I had a peanut butter sensation that was chocolate ice cream (real), peanut butter and peanut butter cups with fudge. They lay it all out on marble then squish it all together. Yummy!! I may have to go for a run tomorrow though!
